Doubt Which Comes After (DC6)

Today I am swimming in yesterday’s second half

It’s a pool where people tentatively dip toenails

A bay whose calm ripples seem like 20 ft. tidals

A bathwater scented with oils as the shower runs

Truly I can’t step out of this beautiful quicksand

This one decision has knocked me over the cliff

I’m not flying or falling but climbing again & again

In the most liberating move that I’ve ever made

I am being equally shaken and stirred toward

Consolation, Desolation, solaced then not quite so

But I cannot go back, can’t be shark food anymore

I can’t live in chains made of rose covered thorns

I won’t keep living a non-person’s life in my shoes
